I took a small amount of it for many years to help me sleep and prevent panic attacks. It had far fewer side effects (at least for me) and was mildly sedating (didn't leave me as groggy in the morning as doxepin had). It worked for me on the level that I used it for. I don't know about its efficacy as an AD but it may be worth trying - esp. considering it's tolerability. The only downside is it lowers the seizure threshold more - in line with Wellbutrin - so not excessively.
