My 12 year old son was diagnosed with bipolar. Right now they took him off of his med (zyprexia) because he lost his "spark". He also has epilepsy and any drugs used to treat bipolar are also used to treat epilepsy, so we can't over medicate him. My questions are: One week he can be up and down so severely, its scary. He talks about killing himself, then later in the evening he's dancing around and singing like nothing is wrong. Is that bipolar? Also, this week he seems o.k. No mood swings yet. Is that bipolar? Another thing that recently started was that he sees bad things happening to loved ones and he cries desperately. He can't sleep because the pictures in his mind are so graphic and terrible. Has anyone experienced that? Confusion is also a big thing with him. He also has low self esteem and self confidence. Is that part of bipolar?
