Reasons to combine prozac and Zyprexa into one pill:
Lazy pdocs can prescribe one pill instead of having to titrate two simulataneously;
An off-patent drug can be resurrected as a money-maker for a money-hungry drug company.
I would think it was a sign of the further decline of psychopharmacology that the (in my opinion disatrous) SSRI Era inaugurated, a 'onesize-fits-all' mentality suitable to an era of 15-minute pharmaceutical consultations, except that such formulations have been around a long time. this is an updated version of Triavil, a combination of amitriptyline and perphenazine. Maybe there's some progress: while fluoxetine is an inferior antidepressant to amitriptyline, maybe olanzapine is better than perphenazine. I'm not sure about that, though. Many newer AP's put patients at risk for diabetes.
