Hi sip,
> Good luck to you antigua and fogmama (and to myself) re: our writing! I am thinking of joining a writers' group to help give me structure and support and a sense of community. Do you guys do this too? Maybe it would be helpful. Helps lessen the isolation too.
I've been part of a group in the past. It was great, since I was working full time and didn't have any other structured writing opportunities. Funny, now I'm not working but I can't envision committing to a writing group. I think it's because when I was in one, I always had a hard time making it to meetings because of deadlines. But I did enjoy the group, especially exercises designed to generate material.
Less isolation is a good thing even if it doesn't impact your writing (though it's bound to) - for me isolation is a big trigger for feeling depressed, which means less writing ... it's a vicious circle.
