MAOI'S in UK...

Posted by myclonic_jerk on December 15, 2003, at 14:42:47

Greetings,

Just like to pick your collective brains here:
I'm currently taking 60mg Prozac with 400mg Lamictal, with fairly good results.
The Prozac however, is fading fast(after only 6 months or so)
Also, Prozac has very little effect without the Lamictal- it's the synergistic effect of both.
If Increase the Prozac, I'll have to bump up the Lamictal too.My dose is edging towards alittle to high for my liking.
I'm in the UK, and I'm thinking about a switch to an MAOI.I'm leaning towards Parnate. So,

1)Has anybody ben prescribed Parnate here in UK?

2)Has anyone made the switch from Prozac to an MAOI with a relatively painless 5 week Prozac washout?
I reckon that this washout with trigger my depression big-style.I'm thinking maybe a seratonergic TCA such as Clomipramine might serve as a 'bridge' to get me through this washout period.I'm not looking forward to it, as I don't get on with TCA's really.
Any ideas??

Cheers,

MJ.
