Hello all!
I started Lexapro in March so it has been about 8 months. (I tried Prozac for a week and Paxil for about 3 months before that.) I am taking it for depression, panic, and obsessive thinking. After switching from the other AD's, Lexapro was a pleasure with no side effects, except for difficulty reaching orgasm (which sucks!). My doc had to increase the dose to 20 mg a day for it to be effective. I also have been taking 0.5 mg of Klonopin for the anxiety, which I have been slowly trying to wean myself off of for the last few months (down to 0.25 now and holding pretty well).
Well, now I have been on Lexapro for a while, and I don't know if the meds are pooping out or what, but I feel more depressed, anxious, and obsessive, and have even gained some weight recently. Also, I have noticed that I cannot motivate myself to turn my papers in on time. I was always a procrastinator, but I just can't seem to get myself to do it (antidepressant apathy?).I know that part of this might have something to do with the fact that I am cutting down on the Klonopin, but I think it's more than that. Anyway, I suggested to my pdoc that I add Wellbutrin, which he finally, reluctantly agreed to. I started Wellbutrin XL 150 mg a day about 5 days ago.
I am wondering if the Wellbutrin augments the Lexapro or whether it works independently? Also, have people found this to be a good combination? I am looking forward to being able to get things done, help my attention, lose some weight perhaps, and rev up my sagging sex drive and make orgasm easier to achieve.
I hope this wasn't too long-winded, but any comments are appreciated! Thanks!
All the best,
psychlover
