I am an anxious, depressive, bipolar II. I am currently on Prozac, Depakote, Lamictal, and a small amount of Wellbutrin. When I first tried Wellbutrin 6 months ago it was the generic immediate release Bupropion. At that time I was on Lexapro which I found was making me sleepy and I had difficulty concentrating. The WB was added to try to help those side effects. I was on 75 mg. 2 x a day and did very well. However, when I later changed to Wellbutrin SR I started having a lot of problems with anxiety and I actually felt worse on that. I don't know if it's something in the SR formulation that I am sensitive to but I have not been able to get past 50mgs.(I split a 100mg tablet which is supposed to be ok even though it's SR). I'm very frustrated because some people actually love Wellbutrin but I become very anxious when I take more than 50mgs./day. I'm thinking about dropping it altogether. As for whether Wellbutrin is stimulating, it is definately the most stimulating AD I've ever been on. More so than Prozac even. Just though I'd share my thoughts. Good luck to you.
