Hey All, looks like I've moved away from Unipolar to Bipolar II... I think I came from the old school method of diagnosis/treatment where you were kind of one or the other (i.e. psychotically manic or depressed--just two options.) So now we have a SPECTRUM and yes, I believe I have had many manic episodes throughout my life. I guess hindsight's what's been important...it's hard to see yourself while in the throes of mania as anything other than happy, up, successful, etc... What probably started the whole thing off was seeking treatment for depression in the first place (that's what DROVE me to a doctor although now I can see that it followed a prolonged manic episode--big time) and since those were the only symptoms presented, voila! I was depressed. It's really amazing how you have to dig a lot deeper to find out what's really going on.
So it looks like a new treatment regime. I've just started Tegretol (Carbemazepine) and am still on Wellbutrin and Celexa. I didn't want to make a million changes at once so we might try the anticonvulsant on for size and then readjust the AD's...whatever.
I'm just curious of any/all experiences with this Tegretol. So far, I'm tolerating it nicely and feeling "good."
But then again, I could just be (hypo)manic right now ;)
Thanks for reading!
Karen
