Most definitely yes. One of the worst manic episodes I ever had (hospitalized for over a week) came at the hands of prozac, and I was also on depakote at the time. I've also had hypomanic episodes on lamictal. Your depakote dose is way to low to keep you stable- do you know what your blood levels are? I need to take 1500mg of depakote/day to reach an 80u reading (gets me out of manic states) and 1000mg/day to reach 50u, which is considered low normal. Do you have access to a bipolar specialist (usually in University settings)? At least a second opinion? I know how difficult it is to have small children and not function well. You owe it to yourself and them to have someone else look at your med regime. take care, judy

Thank you Judy1 for you quick response. Any insight is so helpful to me. I know my depakote dose is very low the blood level is only 22u. I tried to increase it ( I'm on the Depakote-er version) to 500 mg. and about 12 hours after that dose I would have this profound feeling of depression. I just couldn't bear that feeling. My doctor is baffled at that "side effect" because he has never had a patient say that before. So I'm stuck right now at 250 mg. Also, regarding the lamictal, I was on that in the past for about 18 months and I had to be careful with it because if I went over 150 mgs. I became very agitated. It is pretty stimulating I think. I really think you're right and I need to get rid of the prozac it is only further compounding my instability. It's just a continuous and frustrating process of experimenting with different medications and dosages. I hope I get it right one of these days. Thanks so much.
