Hello! I take 300 mgs of topamax as well as 15 mgs of abilify. I started to lose weight at 200 mgs. I am having cognition problems and also problems with numbness in my apendages, but the effects on my mood far outweigh the side effects. I have lost roughly 15 lbs so far, but I took lithium in the past and put on aobut 30 lbs. I hope this information has been helpful to you. At this point topamax has been a savior to me. I hope it can help your son as well. Karen
