I used to take valerian root to help me sleep, its supposedly what valium is chemical makeup or properties or whatever were patterned after. here's a link...http://www.erowid.org/herbs/valerian/valerian.shtml I was taking about 800mg valerian root to sleep until it stopped helping much, then i could take it and chill awake. but its not standardized so the same dosage isnt always really the same amount active stuff.
also, ginseng can react to your body and act as a stimulant or relaxing agent.
