i would assume that, generally, the fewer 5-HT1A autoreceptors the better, and the more 5-HT1A postsynaptic receptors the better (in a simplistic, generalized sense, of course). This is bcz stimulation of the autoreceptors DEcreases serotonin secretion, and stimulation of the postsynaptic 5-HT1A receptors is, well, just good i think-- for the reasons that Shawn T. gave... and bcz i think that the beneficial effects of enhanced serotonin transmission are mediated mostly via the 5-HT1A postsynaptic receptors (but im not sure-- zthis correct?). Eh, hope this helped a little bit at least.
