I've used both fish oil and magnesium for various reasons.
For fish oil, 1 gram of EPA has found to be clinically effective for certain depression. I personally have found that 900 mg of EPA+DHA is very helpful. (this is the equivilant of 3 standardized fish oil caps)
As far as magnesium can go, it is best for those who have typical depression (ie insomnia, anxiety, etc)
300 mg of a reasonable form, would be beneficial.
