One drink? Probably OK. However, you may want to look into the infamous case of Karen Ann Quinlan, who became brain-dead as a result of respiratory depression (stopped breathing) due to combining Valium and alcohol.

The effects of alcohol and benzos are additive. The threshold of consciousness is substantially reduced by the combination.
