I didn't have any lasting side effects (besides the weight gain) on Effexor. I had a few initial ones -- couldn't sleep, had sudden severe hot flashes and nausea (at night) but all of that went away within the first two weeks.
I've always been a dieting pro and BELIEVE ME, I tried everything to lose the 38 pounds I gained on Effexor and I couldn't lose an OUNCE. I ate rabbit food (salads, etc.) like crazy, did cardio workouts until my legs turned to rubber, took Trim Spa for a while -- nothing! NOTHING!
I'm now on day 10 of Topamax and I've lost 4 pounds. I'm not getting my hopes up yet, but I will keep you guys informed.
