You may want to try Sanorex (mazindol) for weight loss... it's a norepinephrine/dopamine reuptake inhibitor, schedule IV controlled substance. It'd surely help to curb your appetite, if that's the problem... as would Meridia, though I'd be wary of its serotonergic action interfering with your Zoloft. If however, as you're speculating, the Zoloft is messing with your metabolism, you may want to consider going a different route. And while I'm very much against low-fat diets for losing weight (I've noticed that those who use low-fat diets tend to have an "aged-beyond-their-years", hagard, worn out appearance), Xenical may be a good option. It blocks the absorbtion of dietary fats. If you go this route though, I'd highly recommend you either eat a lot of fish high in EFA's or take fish oil, flax seed, and borage oil supplements-- a tablespoon of olive oil a day doesn't hurt either.
Low-carb is definitely the way to go though. L-carnitine is great at reducing carbo cravings, as is chromium (but only use the polynicotinate form, NOT the picolinate--it causes DNA-damage!!). There are also carbohydrate and fat blockers available OTC... I take one that works rather well; It's called "Block Carbohydrates & Bind Fat". I bought it at GNC for rather cheap. It contains (per 2 tablets):
60mg Vitamin C
500mg Phaseolamin® (extract of northern white kidney bean Phaseolus vulgaris)
500mg LipoSan-ultra™ (marine fiber concentrate
16mg Glucosol™ (Lagerstroemia speciosa leaf extract) (1% corosolic acid)
250mg Gymnema sylverstre leaf extract (25% gymnemic acid)
50mg Bitter Melon Fruit (from 4:1 extract)
100mcg Vanadium (as BMOV)Good luck!
