I can't control myself once Iget mad I do crazy and irrational things like following my boyfriend to his job and causing several scenes. That was a huge hint that I am a little wacked in the first place but I don't know to what extent. Before I got on Effexor I was really unhappy all the time and now that is not an issue anymore but my moods still are!
I don't think that being annoyed and doing irrational things necessarily warrants a mental illness diagnosis....

It's true that there aren't any exact tests like there are for certain other illnesses (like, a mammogram for example), but there are certain symptom checklists and rating scales that can be used as sort of a guide in determining a person's "mental illness issues". YOur right, it is so easy these days for doctors to just whip off a prescription without giving it much thought. I think that you can either take their word or do some research on your own. Good doctors will really be willing to discuss things with you, too. I think that if you want to understand more about what's going on for you, you should try to get your hands on some of the symptom checklists and such. Of course, they are inexact, but it can help give you some ideas.
