So after trying eight or so antidepressants, a doctor finally diagnosed me as being mildly bipolar. A have constant cycles of angry and then hopeless depression. I tried Zyprexa, which was awful. Incredibly compressing. I had trouble concentrating, major memory problems, and I was so out-of-it I often couldn't drive. My doctor added Wellbutrin three weeks in (All other AD's have produced intolerable sexual side effects, irritability and/or anxiety), with no effect. I was just prescribed Trileptal today and I'm wondering if it will have any impact on my depression. My doctor insists that I shouldn't take AD's alone, that I need a mood stabilizer, but I don't really care about my cycles, I just want to feel better. Do I really need to be pushed down by a mood stabilizer? I'm still on the Wellbutrin, but I haven't felt any effects, good or bad.
