Yep, the only time I told my mom I was bored, she told me I must be boring. I was only eight at the time. I have never been bored since.
I don't know what the key is, but I think developing a lot of hobbies is a good idea. I have lots of them, and when I don't feel like doing them, I read.
But the main part of depression is an inability to derive pleasure from the things that used to make you happy. So at this point, I believe we can say, "If you're bored, you must be boring--or depressed!"
