Lamictal's effects

Lamictal is very strange in its effect on me. About an hour after I take it I get a great boost in energy and lowering of depression. This generally lasts till late afternoon and then fades away.

I have read nothing about Lamictal that would explain this, but I know that it's more than just a mood stabilizer. Anyone know what might explain these effects?
