I was diagnosed with ADD when I was 12. I was put on Ritalin and absolutely LOVED it. I noticed the difference within 10 minutes, and took it faithfully as my school grades, my attitude, and my sense of self all drastically improved. They took me off Ritalin when I was 17, because I was told it wasn't recommended for adults. Are any of you adults on Ritalin??
Anyway, I'm 25 now, and I've been taking Strattera for 2 weeks, and I have some of the same SE's on Strat (waking up during the night and anger moods.) I've read several posts indicating appreciation for having the docs start you on a slow and steadily increasing dosage. My doc started me at 40 mg; one a day for 2 days, then 2 a day (80mg)for a month thereafter. The instructions were to take them both in the morning. I tried that on the third day, as directed, and I felt really impulsive and angry! I felt this was kind of a strong dosage for someone who hadn't taken anything in so long... Now I take one in the morning, and one in the afternoon.
The major thing I miss about Ritalin is the "pep" it gave me along with the mental clarity... I'm sure this isn't recommended, but i've been taking Xenadrine (one with each dosage of Straterra) to compensate for the energy, and it's similar to how Ritalin affected me when I was younger. I think I like Strattera-- still waiting for the full effect I think... I'm just not sure if I have any room to move up ?? I'm already at 80mg a day... Are any of you on an even stronger dosage per day?
Please respond...
Thanks!!
