I take 60 mgs. of Remeron per day - at bedtime. It has worked wonders for my depression and anxiety. Even at 60 mgs. it helps me sleep, but others have had a different experience than this. I was taking Zoloft before. The Zoloft helped with the depression (to a degree) but gave me horrible memory and concentration problems. Remeron has brought me out of my depression and allows me to be mentally sharp. I did gain 20 lbs. that all went on towards the beginning of treatment - but it has remained stable at that. I consider it to be the "lesser of the two evils" (20 lbs. vs. hopelessly depressed).
Word of Caution: The start-up side-effects of Remeron were awful. It made me VERY sleepy (like I COULDN'T stay awake) and dizzy. It took 3 to 4 days before I felt safe to drive. I almost quit it because of this; I'm SO glad I stuck it out!
Good Luck!
