That is interesting. The only thing I know about Trich treatment (from a couple of people I know who have it) is sometimes high doses of Prozac have worked--but their trich didn't go away completely, it just became milder.
Have you been involved with the TS association? There is a site that I think is called the TS Learning Center.
Did your doctor recommend testing for the small seizures? Would they show up on an EEG or maybe a functional imaging scan of some kind? Or are they too small?
I and both my brothers seem to have what might be a mild form of trich or something related--not hair pulling, but head scratching. I have never discussed this with them. My sister in law has complained to me, like when we see my brother start to scratch.
Mine became worse in my early twenties, then got better, but I am convinced that since I've been on meds, it has gotten worse(on and off). I am usually ok at controlling it so that I don't do it in front of other people, but sometimes I find myself starting to when with others. Sometimes, I delay having my hair cut because it is bad and I have scabs. It isn't too bad at the moment, but of course, it probaby has the waxing and waning feature. I asked my previous pdoc about the medication connection, but he just scratched his head (ha ha) in puzzlement. When I offered my hypotheses (too much serotonin? too much norepineprhine?), he didn't dismiss them, but was very noncommittal to any ideas.
It really does feel neurological to me--like a tic, something I can supress for a while but has to happen sometime--rather than a "habit".
