In reply to Geodon for depression? - Need advice!, posted by SLS on November 26, 2002, at 21:39:15
Hi Scott,
I have had tremendous success with a combination of Geodon (120 mg) and Celexa (30 mg). Depression is part of my diagnosis, along with a psychotic disorder. My depression has at this point lifted completely. I also do not have any more psychotic symptoms.
I was on the Geodon without the antidepressant and I was extremely depressed, so in my experience Geodon does not work as an antidepressant. I know that it is somewhat common to use antipsychotics in non-psychotic patients, but at least for me, Geodon alleviates psychosis only, and my antidepressant alleviates depression and anxiety. So I don't think it is a great idea to use an antipsychotic agent for a non-psychotic condition, but I suppose it is worth trying if nothing else works.
I hope you find a medication that's right for you.
