In reply to Benzos and carbamazepine for seizure, posted by Squiggles on November 21, 2002, at 7:39:42
Lots of drugs are used for seizures, including Klonopin (2mg or more), Phenobarbital, Dilantin, and others. Often, these medications are combined with other anti-eppileptics.
If it weren't for seizures, I'm not sure barbituates would stand a chance with the DEA... let me see, I suppose they still have some use in some drug treatment clinics, possibly, but I'm not even sure of that, and know that benzos can be used often in that place anyway.
The DEA would probably cheer louder than psychiatrists if seizures and ADD were "cured" suddenly... lol -
I just read the DEA's Drug Diversion page, and Desoxyn's (methamphetamine) production quota is 1000 grams for 2003- a sharp decline from the already miniscule 19,000 grams last year. And this is after Ovation is planning to make a quick profit off of it by hyping it to doctors of treatment-resistant ADD patients... Someone at the DEA must have suddenly gotten mad upon hearing Ovation was planning to revive sales of the drug and is doing a pre-emptive "take that" on desoxyn. So militaristic, this war on drugs... heck, doesn't it wind up employing more people than the military anyhow? (after coast guard, prison guards, agents, etc. are tallied).
