I'd say that if it works for you at a very low dose, then take the lowest dose that makes you comfortable. There's tremendous variation among individuals in sensitivity to meds, especially psychiatric ones.
I take 1 mg/day, which (based on published work) is about average for typical anxiety sufferers. My pdoc considers this the very low end for people with panic disorder (which I also have, along with generalized anxiety) and has offered to raise the dose, but it isn't necessary, so I haven't. So in my case, I'm taking less than "normal" for someone with my diagnosis, yet it's very effective.
K made me a bit sleepy and disoriented for the first week or two that I used it, and at first I took divided doses through the day. But the side effects disappeared quickly and I now take the full 1 mg once a day. I don't think this reflects tolerance, since 1 mg has remained just as effective for well over a year.
