I am having wonderful success on Lexapro. This is my 6th or 7th SSRI I have tried. All the others had MAJOR s/e's. Serzone caused me to have am irregular heartbeat after only a few doses, and Geodon caused me to have GERD. The others had affects on my migraines, weight gain, sexual dysfunction, and/or drowsiness. Most of the meds had a combo of all the s/e's. I have tried Wellbutrin, Paxil, Geodon, Serzone, Prozac and Xanax. I'm sure there's one more (it started with an "s" or a "c") but it was at the beginning of my battle with depression, which started almost 7 years ago (I was 12) and I can't remember the name. I have come to the realization that everyone is SO different and it takes some time (and frustration!) to find the right drug or combo. I felt like giving up after trying Serzone and Geodon back-to-back and having severe problems. I went to the ER about 5 times within 3 months while on those two meds! I had to have all kinds of tests done just to figure out what was wrong with me. With the Serzone, I thought I was having a heartattack! My doc told me some scary news: if I had continued taking the Serzone, it would have caused permanant damage to my heart! Now THAT is discouraging! The only reason I even tried any more drugs after those scary ones was because I began to get worse and worse without any meds. Then I decided I would have to keep searching for the right meds to make my life liveable.
Anyways, I hope Lexapro works for all the new users. I know it has been a wonder drug for me so far!Myst
