Effexor XR and Remeron: A good idea for SP?

I'm taking Effexor, have been on 150mg for a month, and I'm not too optimistic (but giving it a shot for 8 weeks).

After 8 weeks, if I don't notice any effect, has anyone noticed their anxiety levels after taking Effexor and Remeron? I don't know, my doc said that's the last resort he's going to go with me- combining another pill with the Effexor (although he didn't specify remeron or anything).
