"Some generics are fine, like antibiotics, some aren't worth the waste of pharmacy shelf space"- Dr Ben, my pulmonology guy and a first rate doc.
If you can really tell a difference then that's good enough. The Orthopod faculty at the good med school here (theres a sucky one too ;) ) have been putting me back together for two years now, and dammit, I need the occasional pleasant buzz. I'm sick of pain, doctors, my house, and bored to death.
I think the generic is usually fine but if you find a big difference then there is one- for you. We all handle drugs differently. Good analgesia is really important too, since you'll heal better and faster, not to mention that people will still be speaking to you. Pain and mental illness are one unpleasant pairing
In case you didn't know, there are two strengths of Vicodan/ hydrocodone. I only just found out about this. If you got cut back to the weaker one and didn't realize it that makes a big difference. I think it's 750 mg vs 500 mg. The nice candy man at Rite Aid had to figure this out when the stuff suddenly didn't work too well. Dr. Knee was jet lagged and wrote the wrong number.
Just stuff to know. Hope you feel better soon.Miss Liz
