RE: your response to my "Memantine Experimentation" post. I'm also disgusted with the psychomedical establishment. Depressed people don't have the energy to be tough and combative, but, if we can find the strength, THAT'S the appropriate attitude! It would be unfair to condemn all shrinks uniformly, but, frankly, I've seen a number of them, and most of them aren't motivated by a desire to help you (although that's what they want us to believe). They're intellectuals who have chosen that particular career path because they're interested in what makes people "tick". In other words, you're not so much a poor soul who needs help, as you are a specimen. It's oh-so-interesting to analyze you. Your status in their eyes is little better than that of a lab rat in a forced-swimming test. Perhaps I shouldn't rant so much, because I don't have an answer to their unhelpful nature and their calcified, self-interested treatment approach. Heck, what provides the most antidepressant effect for me from a shrink visit is being polemical, and turning the tables on them, and messing with THEIR minds.
