In reply to THE WITHDRAWL-how long will this last?, posted by rin on July 11, 2002, at 11:24:23
Rin,
You asked how long the withdrawal could last.
I can only tell you what I have experianced and what I know from others who have been through withdrawal.
If we start from the time that you stop taking the drug completley, then I have found that for the first week, you will experiance what you have described. then the next week will be a little less unbearabe. The first two weeks, I look at being the first plateau.
The second plateau will go from the second week and get gradually less unbearable so that you can deal more rationally with the withdrawal, but it is still "bad". This , I have found is the critical juncture. For if you can get to this phase without reinstituting the drug, then I have found others that went the rest of the way to be free from the withdrawal effects of the drug, each day getting a little bit better.
Now the rest of the time period is dependant on several veriables.
1)How much of the drug were you taking
2)for how long
3)what other drugs you are taking
4)your age
5)your health condition
6)other factors that are individual to each person.
Now I want you to know that there is "light at the end of the tunnel." I have overcome addiction myself.
Lou
