In reply to Why Dexedrine PLUS Provigil???, posted by BekkaH on July 13, 2002, at 0:27:31
I tried Provigil after being on Ritalin after 5 years. It should have been named Placebo but sales would have suffered. I started combining it w/ Ritalin and it really didn't seem to help.
The two can be taken together; as I understand it, Provigil works in a specific area of the brain where as stims are kinda hit receptors all over. Here's a short blurb from www.rxlist.com on mixing it w/ Ritalin. I could take 20 mg of Ritalin and take a nap, easily. The Provigil, I guess, was supposed to be wakefullness promoting.
I have talked to others where Provigil made them shaky and wired but it has a high and fast poop-out problem. I just woke up-I know this isn't technical but it's all the tech I know.Peace
Methylphenidate - In a single-dose study in healthy volunteers, coadministration of modafinil (200 mg) with methylphenidate (40 mg) did not cause any significant alterations in the pharmacokinetics of either drug. However, the absorption of PROVIGIL may be delayed by approximately one hour when coadministered with methylphenidate.
