I think I posted this sort of question a while back, but got only 1 or 2 responses. If anyone has any experience with these two drugs I'd greatly appreciate hearing their story.
I just weaned off Effexor 75 mgs. using 10 mgs. of prozac (worked wonderfully by the way, no withdrawal symptoms at all) and am now taking just 10 mgs. of prozac (is it really worth it at that low of a dose?). The Effexor was working fine, but I was really freaked out by the withdrawal horror stories that I not only read, but saw my sister experience along with tardive dyskinesia for a few months after stopping Effexor. I guess I just don't feel comfortable with the "knowns" of Effexor. Any drug that starts off with "we're not sure exactly how it works" makes me a bit suspiciousl.
ANYWAY, I am now taking 20 mgs. of Adderall in the a.m. and 10 in the afternoon and was prescribed klonopin .5 x t.i.d as needed. Of course that means I take it every day, but usually no more than .5 mgs., sometimes 1.0 mgs. I'm having a hard time figuring out the timing of taking the klonopin to best enhance the adderall. I was just taking the klonopin at night and it seemed to make my morning dose of adderall much more effective and longer lasting. I then started taking an afternoon dose of K and the tiredness kind of offet the afternoon adderall.
I don't think I have severe panic or social anxiety. I just get easily irritated and anxious in certain (read: many) situations. Waiting in lines, dealing with my two toddlers and their tantrums, unnecessary conversations with people, etc. I'v always been highly impatient and intolerant of a lot of things and the Adderall has helped tremendously with my ability to deal with things more effectively and efficiently. However, I don't know if the Klonopin is a good long term solution to take the the Adderall.
I was developing tolerance to the Adderall before adding the K and it really seemed to restore its benefits. I definitely think I need the GABA properties of the K, but I don't know if I'm playing with fire taking uppers and downers all day. I'm also feeling a bit more irritable and prone to anger since ceasing the Effexor. Does anyone have any experience with taking a different SSRI with adderall that alleviated anxiety and didn't effect the adderall. In the past when I've taken prozac alone, I experienced pretty severe apathy and a "whatever" attitude to just about everything. I've never been truly depressed as in sad or hopeless just really kind of indifferent to everything. Like I could win the lottery and not show a lot of emotion or experience major tragedy and not be terribly affected either. Just sort of existing and not really feeling. The Adderall helps me feel joy in small things and motivates me to accomplish the daily chores of life that I otherwise find so boring and useless.
Sorry for rambling, I don't really know where all this is going . . . I guess I'm just wondering if there are any others out there who have experienced similar feelings and the meds they found most helpful for them.
Thanks!
