Hi John. As katekite says, "behavioral disturbances" usually have to do with disinhibition. This can manifest as aggression and even violence. This is rare -- I think it's much more common with alcohol -- but it can happen. It's been suggested that people with certain disorders are especially vulnerable to this kind of reaction. Any benzo can cause it; Xanax and Valium have been implicated in a number of cases, but that probably has to do with their popularity rather than an increased tendency to cause loss of control or disinhibition.
As for depression, Xanax is usually considered the benzo of choice for people who've become depressed on other benzos. It's even thought to be an antidepressant by itself, in high doses. But as always, YMMV.
