Hi John,
My depressive symptoms were multiplied tenfold by a stubbornly insular doc. who refused to accept that I might just have an insight into my own illness, its (circumstantial) causes, and my own reaction to 'therapeutic' AD doses. He also refused to accept my Fibromyalgia as an entity in itself and a cause, not effect, of my depression (My current p.doc agrees with me).
It is difficult for me to to trust ANY doc. fully after this experience, but I have found that self-education and communication, although this sounds simplistic, are the best options.
Some docs are more used to dictating to patients, as opposed to a two way interaction.
If you find that you're ******* against the wind with your doc. when you try to assert your opinion- find another doc. There are plenty of open-minded, sympathetic physicians out there. Trick is to find one, and work with them.Col.
