Why are SSRI doses higher for OCD?

Posted by rainbowlight on April 14, 2002, at 23:44:46

Can someone tell me why the doses are supposed to be higher for anti-OCD SSRI's (Zoloft, Paxil, etc.) to work for OCD? Will they not work for OCD on lower doses? I just began Zoloft for OCD, I am not at 37.5 mgs. a day, and am already seeing decreased anxiety and OCD. Will I see an even bigger improvement if I move up to the recommend OCD dose?
