Adderall does help, I think. When I first switched from Ritalin SR to Adderall, I noticed that it helped me feel calmer and more focused.
As for how much it contributes to helping my depression, I think it does a lot, but it is hard for me, at this point, with all the meds added to the cocktail at different points in time, to discern which medicines are helping and which are going along for the ride.
I'm doing pretty well. I think I have some lingering dysthymia, but not major--some motivational problems, anxieties, some pessimism, etc. But, I have only had a few breakthrough depressions in the past 6 months, and when they happen, they abate very quickly--1 or 2 days. Of course, I am still dealing with underlying issues and putting life back together after major depression, but I have made a lot of progress.
Now my quest, in terms of medication, is more about reducing or eliminating some of the annoying side effects.
