Right now, I am sure that I am low in dopamine, because I also have ADHD problems and I am only on an SSRI and a benzo, but I tried Ritalin, and it was not good. My throat closed up pretty tight because of the anxiety from it. I was thinking of trying out one of these 2, to get my dopamine levels elevated a bit. Suggestions appreciated. How bad is the anxiety induced by these 2 medications? Thanks.

Whenever I was really depressed small doses of Wellbutrin (and Adderall previously) helped with energy and motivation issues. But, that can be a double-edged sword with anxiety disorders. I don't want to be a broken record, but you might be beter off *adding* on something that will boost NE and/or DA that also has a track record in helping with GAD or panic disorder. An *add-on* low-dose TCA (nortriptyline, desipramine, imipramine, amitripytline), or Effexor might be a better strategy.

Thanks Mitch. I am on 20 mg. Celexa right now. I know exactly what you mean about the "double edge sword". I still think my serotonin levels are too low, so I agree that adding something else in combo to boost that a bit more too would be a good idea. Is Effexor able to be combined effectively with an SSRI? Or would the tricyclic be better? I do need to combine something that will just boost the NE and Dopamine levels secondary, like you said. I did not know if you are aware that I am on Celexa now. Respond if you can Mitch.Frankie.
