In reply to Has wellbrutrin sr increased anybodies anxiety?, posted by GoodFellow on February 7, 2002, at 0:36:32
Hi GoodFellow,In the animal studies of responders to the antidepressant
effects of Wellbutrin, it was found that Wellbutrin inhibited
the firing (reduced anxiety) in a key center of the brain. In the real world, it seems to be a coin toss. Wellbutrin
is generally an activating medicine (i.e. it gives people
energy). For a lot of people this is accompanied with
reduced anxiety. Other people get a bit jittery. Some people
feel a bit jittery at first, but then it goes away as they
get used to the med.I was personally EXTREMELY anxious on Effexor, but
exremely relaxed on Wellbutrin. But everyones body is
so very different. Someone could be very relaxed on Effexor
and anxious on Wellbutrin. I would be cautious if you are
mixing the 2 meds and feel anxious not to jump to conclusions
that the Wellbutrin is horrible. When mixing 2 meds you really
are changing the properties of the meds (i.e. they may work
totally different by themselves).Best of luck.

> I am a drepression/anxiety combo. This time around Effexor only worked for me at High Dose. It made me too drowsy to function. So my doctor switched me to wellbutrin sr. I am in the process of being weaned off Effexor XR at the same time. I may have to remain on a small dose of Effexor if at some time during the change over I feel "great". I am a little concerned that my anxiety will become a problem on the wellbutrin alone. Has anyone with had a problem with anxiety or increased anxiety on wellbutrin.
