Hi Anne,It is true that Klonopin is a mood stabilizer.
It does have an anti-convulsant stabilizer action
working on the brain receptor called Gaba that dampens
neuron transmission. This dampening helps to
tame anxiety and stabilize nerve transmission. So removing the medicine can have some short
withdrawl side effects such as you are experiencing.I can't say for sure how you would feel after
your body would stabilize off the Klonopin. That
is a question you could only answer by completing
your experiment.I'm sorry it is not going well. I'm currently
tapering Klonopin too and it is doing the
opposite; it is making me manic. So, I know things
can be a bit unpredictable.Whatever path you take I hope you get back on
track and feel well again. Sorry things didn't
go too well.Best of luck.

> I read that Klonopin is a mild (?) mood stabilizer, any truth to this? I am sorry I even mentioned the drowsiness to my pdoc. I would much rather feel morning grogginess which goes away with the first cup of coffee and a little daytime drowsiness on the weekends (never at work) then the way I feel right now. I want to abandon this taper and get back to where I was. Any thoughts? Thanks Anne :(
