Clonidine for ADHD, Inattentive Type?

Was recently informed by a psychiatrist that clonidine is first-line med for ADHD, Predominately Inattentive Type. This was a surprise to me, as it was my understanding clonidine does not do much for sustained attentional deficits and cognitive symptoms of ADHD. Would appreciate any input regarding efficacy of clonidine for inattentive symptoms of ADHD. Thanks.
