It's a weak stimulant and lacks the cardiovascular side effects of amphetamine and related drugs. Doctors have been prescribing it for depression, daytime sleepiness, ADD, etc. It seems to help a lot of people. It's very long-acting so you only need to take it once a day. Its main disadvantage seems to be its cost (which is a lot).
