Stopping Celexa; starting Effexor.....scared!!

Hi-
I'm new to this board and have been reading all these posts over the past few days. It seems Effexor's side effects are HIDEOUS when getting off of it. It also seems that in the beginning, it takes one quite some time to get used to it, i.e., the side effects when starting are hideous as well. So has anyone been on it with success? Anyone feel better, less depressed, more energetic? Do the side effects in the beginning go away? And for those who have stopped taking it, did you taper it off and still feel lousy or just quit cold turkey?
I'm getting off Celexa because I gained 30 pounds in less than three months and have always been trim. Anyone have any weight gain issues with Effexor?
