In reply to weening off zyprexa without suffering insomnia?, posted by ttt on November 11, 2001, at 11:36:03

Some day my time to wean off of Zyprexa will
come. When that day comes I will be tapering
it off slowly over the coarse of about 1-2 weeks.
If I can't sleep I'll take a whopper dose of
benadryl for those 2 weeks. I've actually had
a little luck sleeing with some of those homeopathic
solutions (something with chamomillia). Also
Valerian root can help, but it may have a med
interaction with the zyprexa (I think it may inhibit
an enzyme zyprexa needs to be metabolized).

You could also try taking Trazodone at night
or maybe Remeron if you want to stay a med
junkie like me. ;)

good luck,
john
