It made me jittery and I therefore had a hard time sleeping. I was taking it before bed time. So I switched to taking it in the morning and it made me feel tired during the day.
When I used to take Prozac, I also felt both jittery and tired at the same time. But with Celexa, I felt a little less jittery and a lot less tired during the day. But it's hard for me to compare Prozac and Celexa because I took Prozac by itself. On the other hand, I take a little SAM-e and Ginkgo with the Celexa. SAM-e is activating for me. Ginkgo counteracts the sexual side effects of Celexa and might also be activating. The most effective cure for me if I get tired during the day is a can of Cherry Coke. It has plenty of caffeine.
My daytime tiredness became less and less and pretty much went away after a few months on Celexa. But even during the first few days, it was not terrible. If I could get at least 8 hours of sleep, I was fine. I started with 10 mg for 2 weeks, then went up to 20 mg. After 2 years, I still take 20 with good results. For the jitteriness that I had for the first few weeks on Celexa, I took Kava which worked very well after about 30 minutes.
> Bill,
> You were kind enough to give some positive feedback on Celexa a while ago. You did mention that you were tired for the first couple of months. I was wondering how tired were you? Was it difficult to function during the day or just a little tired? I work midnights and was trying to guage when I should take the med. Thank you Bill for your help.
