In reply to Purpose of taking both Wellbutrin and Celexa?, posted by Joe Schmoe on August 7, 2001, at 6:15:43
Hi Joe,
I'm on Prozac + Wellbutrin ... I've tried Wellbutrin alone, but it didn't help my depression much; just gave me more energy (and sometimes anxiety, if I mixed it with too much coffee :) --Have you been on SSRIs before? Because I have LOST a lot of weight on SSRIs alone, without the Wellbutrin, in the past. So it could work that way for you, too.
Also, I THINK my pdoc said that Celexa has less sexual side effects than Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil and Effexor ... I think it's worth a try!
(By the way, I KNOW my pdoc said that Remeron and Serzone don't have sexual side effects, and are more sedating -- they may help with the anxiety from the Wellbutrin... it's something to talk to your doc about if the Celexa doesn't feel right.)
Good luck,
-cindy> Finally got to see a pdoc, she says Wellbutrin makes anxiety worse (I have SP) so she is considering adding Zoloft or Celexa to my Wellbutrin. She knows my concerns about weight gain and sexual problems on SSRIs. I am losing weight on Wellbutrin, even on merely 100 mg/day so I am loathe to give it up.
