going off Xanax

Posted by super on August 3, 2001, at 13:08:18

Can someone help motivate me to go off Xanax? I need some good reasons! I only take half of a .25 mg pill every night but I still feel like it relaxes me and helps me get in sleep mode. Well, my p-doc says it's not good to be on Xanax for long periods of time. I've been on it for over two years, so I'm trying to go off it. But I don't want to! The idea is that I'll replace the Xanax with Neurontin at night. Will the Neurontin do the same job Xanax does for me? It makes me anxiety ridden just to think of going off Xanax. I guess you could say I've become dependent on it. I need good reasons why I shouldn't take it anymore. (I've never had problems with abusing it, but I've been tempted more than once. That's a good reason, but it helps to hear it from others.)
Thanks!!
