In reply to Dysthymia Meds.... NEED HELP!, posted by Christina on July 25, 2001, at 7:19:05
> Help. Anybody got a miracle cure for dysthymia? I've been on several ADs (all ssri type) as well as a few mood stabilizers and Ritalin. I'm still as blah feeling as ever.

> Anybody, Bueller, Bueller?I think Provigil is a step in the right direction. Unfortunately the drugs that I think are the very best for dysthymia are not USA drugs. I have to get them from overseas mailorder. My top picks include Adrafinil and Amisulpride.
In the USA, I would limit the list of drugs to try to these:
Prozac
Prozac+Zyprexa (low dose for dysthymia)
Zyprexa (low dose)
Risperdal(low dose)
Prozac+RisperdalIn my own personal experience all the SSRIs are useless for the blahs except Prozac. Prozac is unique. All the other copycats do not resemble it.
But my all time favorites are Adrafinil and Amisulpride. After 10 years of struggling with the blahs type of depression/dysthymia, these two drugs worked miracles.
Either Nortriptyline or Desipramine could be helpful too, though side effects are sometimes a bit much. In the stimulant category, Provigil is a good choice. Another might be Adderall. If you limit your search to just the drugs mentioned in this post, I think you may find good results quicker than any other way.
