Trying to get off Effexor

Posted by Chasity on May 31, 2001, at 10:32:01

I am curently trying to get off the effexor. I have related symptoms of the postes that have been posted and I am glad that I decided to do a back ground search myself and understand just what is Effexor. I take 75 mg per day and I stopped taking them everyday trying to ween myself off, since the Doctors refuse to get me off them. on the 2nd day that I had stopped taking them I was having with drawls very badly and I thought that I was going crazy. what started out as a Trip to the Dr over nervousness ended up as Depression (so they claimed) I have never been depressed and I am not depressed now. I have been on this medication for about 2 months and I want to get off it.. before the Effexor they started me on the Wellbutrin and I had bad reactions to that med, before the wellbutrin I was on the Zoloft. That is one med that I would stay away from. It caused me to forget where I was going and fogot where I was at.. I stopped taking it also. So they decided to try the Effexor, althought I "DID" notice a change in my attitude and was not irritated as before, but after about 1 month of taking it I have noted that I start getting very irritable and angry for no apperent reason. I have children and I know that they do not like to get their heads bite off over small things.. I have tried to control these spouts and I try to stop taking the meds all together. I ended up taking it back on the 2 nd day due to the severe withdrawls that I was having. On top of that I had a Stomach Virus to boot. I have heard that the effects of the withdrawl could be as simular to the common cold as well as a stomache virus. I tend to keep weening myself off this drug untill I am EFFEXOR Clean. Anyone with some helpful insite for me please feel free to Email me and help deal with this. I just want off the meds. I am glad that I decided to do my own back ground check since the Doctors are reluctant to not share the long trem effects of these sorts of Medications. As well as the severity of the Wtihdrawls of the medications. Please Email me with some tips and advice to stop taking this Effexor...
Thank you Sincerely, Chasity
