I'm hoping it isn't too late to pose a question?
I've been taking remeron for about a year now. It's the only med that works completely for my mix of anxiety and atypical depression. The SSRIs make me anxious, aggressive and agitated. Here is my question: I've found that after about 2 months on a specific dose the antidepressant and anti-anxiety effects begin to dissipate. I then need to increase my dose to regain the previous level of response. This has happened two times now. I was on 45 mg Oct- January and lost all response. I began taking 60 mg and regained the positive effects. Most recently in about March I found that I was getting depressed again and needed to increase my dose again to 75 mg. I am feeling well again. I know that I'm already above the max therapeutic dose, and I'm wondering if there is any way to break this cycle. I also take ritalin 10mg > a day as needed to study, and 25mg or less of trazodone on the nights after taking ritalin for sleep. Is there something that my pdoc should add to prevent this from happening? Is this normal? My doc hasn't seen this happen before. Any ideas would be appreciated, as this is the only success I've ever had and I've tried almost all of the new AD's.
